El tráfico de productos hortofrutícolas evolucionó de forma notable en el puerto andaluz durante el pasado año, con un incremento del 12% sobre el año anterior y un acumulado de 108.398 toneladas, datos que la Autoridad Portuaria prevé consolidar en este ejercicio.

No sólo la fruta y hortalizas han tenido un buen comportamiento en el enclave sevillano, sino que la exportación se ha convertido en motor de la economía regional, con un incremento del 252% en relación al anterior ejercicio y con un especial protagonismo de la exportación de cítricos con destino al Norte de África. De hecho, se han exportado 6.045 toneladas de este producto frente a las 1.716 del año 2011.

El principal receptor de cítricos fue Gran Bretaña, que recibió 4.683 toneladas a través del puerto de Sevilla. Le siguen Holanda (747 toneladas), Bélgica (255 toneladas) y Senegal (282 toneladas).

También el tráfico de frutas y hortalizas con las Islas Canarias encontró en 2012 un año positivo, ya que Sevilla es uno de los principales puertos de España para el aprovisionamiento de las islas. Si en 2011 se exportaron a Canarias 95.159 toneladas, el pasado año el volumen ascendió a 102.353 toneladas, es decir, un 7,5% más.

El puerto de Sevilla cuenta con una terminal de contenedores y de tráfico ro-ro con capacidad para 300.000 TEU y con una superficie de 15.000 metros cuadrados de depósito para semi-remolques, dos rampas ro-ro y una terminal ferroviaria con servicio de veinte trenes semanales con destino a Madrid, Valencia y Tarragona. Además, desde estas instalaciones se ofrecen líneas regulares con las Islas Canarias, con cuatro salidas a la semana, y un servicio semanal con el Norte de Europa, concretamente con los puertos de Felixtowe y Rotterdam.

Además, el recinto Sevilla dispone de Punto de Inspección Fronterizo , dotado con todos los servicios necesarios, y almacenes de frío positivo. En este sentido, la empresa Transportes Frigoríficos Narval, instalada en la Zona de Actividades Logística del puerto de Sevilla, cuenta con un almacén de 2.000 metros cuadrados de superficie y 10.000 metros cúbicos de capacidad de almacenamiento en frío.

In addition o these facilities, the port of Sevilla has a Border Inspection Point, endowed with all the necessary services and positive cold stores. Regarding this, the company Transportes Frigoríficos Narval, located in the Logistics Activities Area, has a warehouse of 2,000 square meters surface and 10,000 cubic meters of capacity for cold storage.
