El Port de Tarragona y Fruport, su terminal de fruta, junto con el Puerto de Savona (Italia) y ASA Lines presentarán en la Feria Fruit Logística de Berlín 2013 sus instalaciones portuarias y terminales de fruta. El director de Gestión de Clientes y Desarrollo de Negocio, Jordi Armengol, encabezará la delegación del Port de Tarragona en la Fruit Logístic 2013. Durante tres días, del 6 al 8 de febrero, el Port de Tarragona participará en la feria más grande del mundo dedicada al mercado de frutas con el objetivo de captar tráficos de exportación, importación por la terminal de Fruport, y establecer mayores vínculos comerciales para la entrada y salida de la producción de fruta nacional e internacional. Cabe recordar que el centro y el sur del continente americano reúnen a los principales productos frutícolas objeto de este tráfico.

ASA Lines, que inauguró hace unos meses una nueva línea de shortsea shipping entre Tarragona y Vado Ligure, participa en esta ocasión en esta feria logística, dado que tienen un servicio que está pensado para el transporte de los tráficos de la indústria petroquímica, aunque también está abierta a otros productos como el vino o la fruta, que también se generan en el área de Tarragona. La nueva línea marítima de la naviera ASA Lines, que une las ciudades de Tarragona en España y Vado Ligure en Italia, también tiene una línea regular con el puerto de Savona.

Instalaciones
El Port de Tarragona cuenta con instalaciones preparadas para atender este tráfico de productos frutícolas, gestionadas por Fruport y con dos almacenes frigoríficos y línea de atraque dedicada a este tráfico en los muelles de Rioja y Reus. En concreto, en el muelle Rioja, que dispone de atraque para buques rolones, hay 240 metros de línea de atraque a 11 metros de calado y en el de Reus, 350 metros de línea con 10 metros de calado.

La Autoridad Portuaria de Tarragona tiene previsto concluir las instalaciones del Muelle de la Química y avanzar en los contactos para la gestión de este muelle. Las obras finalizarán después del verano y las nuevas instalaciones tendrán capacidad para mover entre seis y ocho millones de toneladas.

También este año se ha iniciado el desarrollo y construcción de una terminal intermodal en las instalaciones, de manera que podrán operar trenes de 750 metros de longitud. En este mismo ejercicio podría empezar a operar este servicio, puesto que las obras están ya en su fase final de ejecución.

Tarragona bets on its facilities for fruit products

Despite the difficult economic situation, the Port of Tarragona has managed to close 2012 with results in traffic of fruit products nearly of 120,000 handled tones, with special leadership of kiwis, mainly from Italy and New Zeland and pineapple and bananas from Costa Rica.

The Port of Tarragona and Fruport, its fruit terminal, together with the Port of Savona (Italy) and ASA Lines will present in the Fruit Logistic Fair of Berlin 2013 their port facilities and fruit terminals. The director of Customer Management and Business Development, Jordi Armengol, will head the delegation of the Port of Tarragona in Fruit Logistic 2013. During three days, from February 6 to 8, the Port of Tarragona will participate in the largest world fair dedicated to the fruit market aiming at attracting export traffics, import through the Fruport terminal, and establish major commercial links for input and output of the production of national and international fruit. It should be recalled that the Centre and South of the American continent bring together the main fruit products object of this traffic.

ASA Lines, that inaugurated a few months ago a new line of short sea shipping between Tarragona and Vado Ligure, participates on this occasion in this logistics fair, since they have a service that is designed for transport of the traffics of the petrochemical industry, although is also open to other products as wine or fruit, that also are generated in the area of Tarragona.

The new maritime line of the shipping company ASA Lines, that links the cities of Tarragona in
Spain and Vado Ligure in Italy, also has a regular line with the port of Savona.

Facilities
The Port of Tarragona has facilities prepared to meet this traffic of fruit products, managed by Fruport and with two reefer warehouses and a berth line destinated to this traffic in the Rioja and Reus docks. In particular, in the Rioja dock, that has a mooring line for ro-ro vessels, there are 240 meters of berth line and 11 meters of depth and in the Reus dock, 350 meters of berth line and 10 meters depth.

The Port Authority of Tarragona has foreseen to complete the facilities of the Dock Química and progress on the approaches for the management of this dock. Works will be completed after the summer and the new facilities will have capacity to handle between six and eight million tons.

Also this year has been started the development and construction of an intermodal terminal in the facilities, so that trains 750 meters long can operate. In this same year this service could start operating , since works are already in their final execution stage.
